Buddy Perkinson to Highlight Roy Hill Drag Racing School
Display at the Virginia Motor Trend International Auto Show
Seventeen year-old Buddy Perkinson from Prince George, VA, currently headlines Roy
Hill’s Drag Racing School Driver Development Program, and will be appearing at the
school’s display booth in the Virginia Motor Trend International Auto Show on March 13-
15, 2009. Buddy and Roy Hill with both be on hand to sign autographs and answer
questions about Buddy’s career path, and the elite drag racing school.
Just two years ago, Buddy won the 2007 Mychron Top Gun 330 Jr. drag racing series
and the Outlaw 330 series on the east coast. His progression then took him to Top
Dragster and Super Comp racing at respective IHRA and NHRA events in 2008. With
an aggressive plan to reach drag racing’s professional ranks by 2010, Buddy has
recently signed on to become one of the first students in Roy Hill’s Driver Development
Program.
Buddy began his participation in the Driver Development Program with Roy Hill in
February, and is already making runs on the track in Pro Stock cars. In his words…“Its
amazing how much I have already learned from Roy about perfecting my driving skills,
and moving up to a much faster class of car. Without training from a school like this
there is no way I can be prepared to reach my goal of running full time with a
professional team. I have a goal to be competing at NHRA, IHRA, and ADRL national
events this time next year, and this is one step in the process to get there.”
Other drivers currently enrolled in Roy Hill’s Driver Development program include Nate
Monteith, the current record holder for the world’s fastest supercharged Dodge Viper,
and 13 year-old John Moretz who competes in the Jr. Drag Racing series and plans to
follow Buddy Perkinson’s path to professional racing.
Roy Hill’s Drag Racing school will feature a 120’ display of race cars and information
about classes available at the school. Both Buddy and Roy will be at the booth
throughout the weekend, but the one guaranteed 2-hour autograph session is on
Saturday, March 14 from 2:00-4:00pm.
